birthday reflections
Today, I'm celebrating another year around the sun. Last night, on the eve of my birthday, I reflected on the year behind me by looking through pictures on my phone and glancing through my journal. What a year! What stuck out to me was that I had some beautiful highs and some challenging lows.
That’s the human experience – right? We have our highs, and we have our lows. We have our joy, and we have our pain. The celebrations and the challenges. The beauty and the struggle. The love and the fear. The expansion and the contraction.
Life is full of polarities. Everything coexists. It’s all there, intermingled together. Sometimes all at the same moment.
Here’s the thing though. Thanks to my inner work, I can honestly say that I’m grateful for it all. I can see now that whether I’m celebrating, growing, or holding on through the low points, I can trust that it’s all for my highest good. I can be grateful for the lessons in each experience. And when things feel smooth and easy, I can really take them in and appreciate them even more.
I’ve had a beautiful birthday filled with so many of my favorite things. Hugs and kisses from my loves. Summer Moon coffee to start the day. Love-filled messages from thoughtful people from varying stages of my life. Brunch with dear friends. Flowers. Presents waiting to be opened. French music playing as I type. My favorite soup in a crock pot for dinner after a volleyball game. And yes, Beatty’s Chocolate Cake. I know without a doubt, these gifts and my ability to receive them are also a result of my inner work.
I share this with you to encourage you to continue to look within and to connect to your own heart. I invite you to keep asking yourself,
“What do I need?”
“What do I want?”
“What is well and good in my world?”
“What would make this moment better?”
The questions will connect you to your heart, and the answers will lead you to what’s right for you. Let the journey fill you up.
Thanks for being here in this space with me.
Love and light,
Mendy
