We were both shocked by this!

Several of my clients have recently shared the same realization – that they run their lives on autopilot, rarely checking in with themselves, their bodies, their emotions or their thoughts.
When I ask women to check in with themselves – to simply drop in and become aware – it’s often surprisingly eye-opening.
They realize how much stress and anxiety they’re holding in their bodies.
They start to notice tension, constriction and even pain they were trying to ignore or push through.
Then emotions come bubbling to the surface.
And then they begin to notice patterns – like always rushing through the day, constantly thinking about what needs to be done, and feeling like they can’t take a break and they’ll never be enough.
Sound familiar?
One recent session stood in out in an amazing way.
My client shared that she’d been having intense knee pain for a couple of weeks. She’d already gone to an orthopedic doctor for a steroid shot, started physical therapy, and had followed that up with a trip to the chiropractor.
Nothing had eased the pain. It was so bad that she was having trouble walking. Stairs felt almost impossible. She described the pain as an 8 out of 10.
During our session, we started by simply acknowledged some stress she was carrying. We moved through some mind/body techniques and some nervous system regulation tools. Then we dropped into trance.
When we were done, I asked her to walk around and check in with her body. The pain had gone from an 8 to a 1.
Then I invited her to test it even further by going up and down some stairs. When she did, she said, “Oh my gosh! I have NO PAIN! What did you do to me?”
I laughed and explained that it wasn’t actually me. It was her body getting into a deeply relaxed state, letting go of the emotional weight she was carrying, and then it was her unconscious mind that did the rest.
Here’s what I know: Our bodies hold it all – our thoughts, our beliefs, our stories, our emotions.
When we work together with the wisdom of our bodies and our unconscious, deep shifts can happen – physically, emotionally and energetically.
So, if you’ve been running on autopilot, this is your invitation to pause.
Right now.
Close your eyes.
Check in with your body.
Notice what’s there – the sensations, the emotions, the thoughts, the stories, the beliefs.
Just notice. Without judgment.
Awareness is the first step.
Love,
Mendy
